BEARS REPEATING

I wanted to send this notice out to you all regarding a posting on my site that I made back in Feb 08 but it bears repeating!

If you have ever received a notice for renewing your domain name by mail from these guys – Domain Registry of Canada – they are trying to lure you away from your current registrar at a substantial increase to your normal fee. They keep sending their renewal notices to me so they haven’t been shut down yet in Canada but have in the USA. If you are paying more than $10 to 15 for your domain name then you’re paying too much; this company is asking $40 per year.

BRANDING

So I’ve been busy; branded my self. I have a new logo, a new website design and secured the domain name “artbiz.ca” (stoked about that).

Weather you type in http://artbiz.ca or http://artbizwebdesign.com they both go to the same site but isn’t artbiz.ca easier. Also you’ll notice the new email but not to worry the other one still works but if you want to replace it with this one that would be good too!

THE IMPORTANTANCE OF SEO

Under the editor of each and every page of your site there is a Search Engine Optimization editor where you can create page content specific keywords and a description. Yes you may have already spent the time composing the “global” descriptions and keywords but the more you give the search engine the more of your site they will index, this is really important for your rankings. It won’t happen over night but the more you give the more you will get back in terms of being found.

If you want to see the description and keywords in the source code just go to “view” in the browser and click “view source”.

Look for these tag:
meta name=”description” content=”your page description should be here”
meta name=”keywords” content=”worlds best artist, great artist, amazing artist”

Make sure that the information inside these tags relates to you and your work and not some other weird company that you got your template from or did your site for you and inserted search info for their company and not yours.

If you can’t find them or the tags are empty you don’t have any SEO set and no one will find you unless they use your exact website name as the search but that doesn’t help you if they use the search term “worlds best artist”.
