twbcoDesigner and founder of Teeny Weeny Bikini Co., Ashley Eady started her fashion career at George Brown College, initially with plans of being a wedding dress designer. Fast forward a few years later and swimwear was at the top of her mind. She thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice to design swimwear part of the year and live somewhere hot the rest of the time?” The name for her line literally came from the song, bearing the same title. She loved the idea of having women of all sizes be able to have a swimsuit with the label “Teeny Weeny Bikini.”

laurie-steen

Raised in Millarville, Alberta. Laurie grew up with a deep understanding of and a respect for nature; specifically the relationships we as human beings have with it. A purist in many ways, Laurie’s drawings are as emotional as they are intellectual. Her pieces seek to embrace and demonstrate a subtle stillness and movement in life, through themes exploring nature, the portrait and the human form.

Laurie’s site is totally Flash based that is how we got the image rotating in the background in the first scene and the site also fills 100% of your browser window (no scrolling). Click here to visit Laurie’s site.

“I had no intention of becoming an artist. There was no childhood dream, no revelationary moment, no intuitive flash, and no channeling of Emily Carr. It was more that the specter of art-making appeared before me as an inflatable raft to a drowning woman and I hauled myself onto it as a way to save my life. I needed to see myself and know myself. Not surprisingly, I am virtually self-taught.”

Sheila Norgate excerpt from artist statement.

Sheila is responsible for sending me down the content management system road, when she contacted me last year to design a custom site her one mandate was that she had to be able to manage it herself.  Kismet: I had been toying with the idea myself but had not found the time for development so thanks to Sheila for getting me started.
